Release Notes Q3 2024

Highlights

  • Enhanced Load & Energy Statistics: Total load values and data per distribution are now available, providing users with deeper insights into their site's load profile for better analysis and optimization. BETA TESTING

  • New Help Center: Introduced a floating Help Center button on both the Dashboard and Installer, making user education and support easily accessible and improving overall user experience.

  • Automated Fallback Values: Fallback values for new charging stations are now set automatically during the setup process, ensuring smooth offline operation and simplified site commissioning. This feature guarantees that stations remain functional even without a network connection.

  • Direct Site Creation via Installer: Electricians and partners can now create new sites directly from the Installer, bypassing the need for internal preparation by the implementation team, significantly reducing setup time and streamlining the process.

  • IMPROVEMENT Phoenix Meter

    • Transformer ratio can be set via ChargePilot in the Installer. No need to use the Phoenix admin web tools any more.

  • IMPROVEMENT Keba Firmware update

    • Firmware updates for Keba chargers will be retried for 24h if they fail e.g. because of network issues.

  • FIXED Network Proxy

    • Connectivity checks do not stress cloud backend any more.

  • IMPROVEMENT Dashboard: New statistics adjustments for total load. BETA TESTING

Cloud v2.13.1 -

  • IMPROVEMENT Site Address Visibility: Electricians and partners can now add site addresses via the Installer. This information is easily accessible to our support and implementation teams once the site is submitted.

Cloud v2.13.0 -

  • IMPROVEMENT Enhanced Configuration Handling and Stability: We now pre-generate a large number of configurations, significantly reducing the time required to serve them. This way, our services will maintain high stability, ensuring seamless operations.

Cloud v2.12.4 -

  • IMPROVEMENT Dynamic Site Setup: Electricians and partners can now choose from all supported meter types when setting up a dynamic site. This is particularly relevant with the introduction of our new standard meter, the Phoenix.

  • Fixes and Improvements for the Installer and Dashboard.

Cloud v2.12.2 -

  • IMPROVEMENT Business Admins: Can now change charging stations themselves as fallback no longer blocks exchanges and new fallback is set automatically.

  • FEATURE OCPP Logs Download: Users can now download and analyze the communication between charging stations and ChargePilot, including historic error codes and charging station behavior. BETA TESTING

Local Controller 1.54.4 -

  • IMPROVEMENT OCPP-Proxy TID mapping

    • ongoing charging sessions, that started before OCPP-Proxy was activated, will be continued and not dropped anymore

  • FIXED automated restart of redsocks when detecting connectivity issues

    • Redsocks is part of the Network Proxy feature that streamlines the internet communication. When ChargePilot detects connectivity issues with this application, said application will be automatically restarted

Cloud v2.11.6 -

  • IMPROVEMENT Site Accessibility: Submitted sites in the ChargePilot Installer are now accessible to everyone.

  • Fixes for setting preconditioning times, relevant for scheduled load management.

Cloud v2.11.3 -

  • IMPROVEMENT Beta Testers: Can now be added much faster by our support and product teams.

  • Bugfixes for the OCPP logs and grid-optimized charging feature.

Cloud v2.11.0 -

  • FEATURE OCPP Logs (DE Version): Accessible to all users of the ChargePilot Dashboard, enabling comprehensive monitoring and analysis.

  • FEATURE Charging Events: Introducing improved load profiles on the charging events page that now include charge offers and State of Charge (SOC) information. BETA TESTING

  • Dashboard Accuracy: Users can now view accurate charging power and grid limit information in the multi-site view of the home screen under all scenarios.

  • Charging Station Fallback: Resolved issues with the Charging Station Fallback feature in the Dashboard for smoother operation and improved user experience.

Local Controller 1.52.4 -

  • IMPROVEMENT Sending site load data to the ChargePilot UI permanently, not only when a car is connected

  • FIXED We've fixed an issue with the Charging Events download feature, ensuring that additional RFID information is now included for a more comprehensive overview.

Cloud v2.9.4 -

  • FIXED In this release, we've addressed an issue where the charging stations logs feature wasn’t working for all supported charging station types in the US.

    • Network Proxy streamlines all internet communication over a predefined set of IP addresses which can be whitelisted by a firewall.

Cloud v2.8

  • FEATURE Statistics Download

    • Additional functionality to download fleet peak load statistics in a 15min time interval for further analysis of the sites.

    • Only available for customers with the Dashboard Business package.

  • NEW APP ChargePilot Installer 1st Iteration

    • The ChargePilot Installer enables our electrician partners to setup configuration parameters of a new site themselves directly in the app and therefore streamline their workflow during installation and commissioning of a new site.

Local Controller 1.50.6

  • FEATURE Advanced Peak Shaving

    • introduction of a new limit [kW] that is considered as a 15-min average limit

  • FEATURE ChargePilot Network Status

    • This page allows the customer to access the ChargePilot controller locally using “local IP:8000” in a Webbrowser, if they are in the same network

    • it displays services on the controller and if they are reachable

  • FIXED OCPP-Proxy: charger reconnection issue after offline case

    • OCPP-Proxy was sending a StatusNotification request to the charger when the connection to the TPBE was reestablished. Some chargers were rejecting this for unknown reasons. As a result OCPP Proxy was not able to reconnect the charger to the TPBE. Now OCPP Proxy will not differentiate between a rejected or accepted StatusNotification from the charger and reestablish the connection with the TPBE

  • FEATURE Phoenix MA370 Meter

    • Supporting the Phoenix MA370 meter extends our support for Modbus TCP meters

Cloud v2.5

  • FEATURE Advanced Peak Shaving

    • The customers now have the possibility to apply a power limit to their main distribution that acts as a 15 min average load limit and provides more flexibility for the load management

  • IMPROVEMENT For customers using an additional limit, e.g. from electricity tariffs or an EMS, we now display this as a dashed line in addition to the main limit.

  • IMPROVEMENT Site names are now shown in the charging events downloads for charging events where the charger was replaced and is no longer part of the ChargePilot system

  • IMPROVEMENT Instead of the support email a link to the support form is now added to the ChargePilot Dashboard to streamline support requests even better.

  • IMPROVEMENT The profile section now embedded via iFrame and therefore solves the issue with different zooms in the profile section and the rest of the ChargePilot Dashboard.

    • Time is not adjusted for daylight savings (which means that the grid tariff set up in the local time of 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. is 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. in the winter and 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. in the summer; we do not make a +/- 1 hour flip here).

  • FIXED Searchbar for Charging Station Types: searchbar for charging station types in charging station settings in Adminpanel works properly

  • FIXED Fix user login Issues: reset failed attempts counter 30 minutes after last login attempt

  • FIXED Fix ocpp username: set ocpp username to match chargers' device id and prevent saving charger name as ocpp username

  • IMPROVEMENT Technical improvements of ChargePilot Dashboard live-data flow

  • FIXED OCPP Logs (DE Version) BETA are now visible in edge cases where logs are disabled but were enabled in the past

  • FEATURE Charging Station Logs (DE Version)

    • Enable download of charging station logs via ChargePilot Web Portal for all User and Admin roles in ChargePilot.

  • FIXED OCPP Logs (DE Version) BETA are now displayed for all sites when the ocpp log level is set on “info” or “debug”

Local Controller 1.49.4

  1. IMPROVEMENT OCPP-Proxy: meter value trigger by third party backend

    • meter value triggers by the third party backend will now be routed through to the charger and the charger response send to the third party backend.

  2. FIXED OCPP-Proxy: “MeterValueSampleInterval” is set per connector

    • The fix ensures that “MeterValueSampleInterval” is set per connector, so that charging sessions per connector will maintain separate timeouts.

  3. FIXED OCPP-Proxy: Password override problems when using a wss link

    • Authorization with third party backend using an ssl link failed sometimes and the password nedded to be reset from third party backend side. With this fix, it is now possible to use the ssl cpo_backend_url link.

Local Controller 1.49.3

  1. FIXED Condition for “Waiting for LM” for Keba UDPs adapted.

    • For Kebas that communicate via UDP with ChargePilot but have a parallel direct OCPP connection to a third party backend we showed a wrong status in the ChargePilot WebPortal. It was often displayed as “Waiting for LM” even if it should show available.

  2. IMPROVEMENT SoC added to Modbus Server implementation.

  3. IMPROVEMENT ABB DC: different stacklevels per connector

    • ABB DC chargers expect different stack levels per connector. Since we always send stack level==0, power limits are not working at their second connector.

  4. IMPROVEMENT EMS: in case of offline chargers, maximum charging power is reported

    • Changed the calculation of the fleet_active_power and fleet_current_phase values so that if a charger is offline it is assumed to output it's maximum power/current capabilities instead of reporting an unknown value for the total fleet

  5. IMPROVEMENT Integrate new DHCP-Server “dnsmasq”

    • The older dhcp service had problems with assigning leases. The new “dnsmasq” service does not have this problem.

  6. IMPROVEMENT ChargePilot DHCP Server activated by default

  7. IMPROVEMENT OCPP Proxy offline behavior

    • ongoing transactions will continue without interruption

    • Authorization cache allows user who previously charged while ocpp-proxy was active, to start new charging sessions. However, new users whose details are not cached will not be able to start new charging sessions.

  8. FIXED Adding ChangeAvailability to OCPP Proxy

    • OCPP Proxy didn’t forward the ChangeAvailability command from the third party backend (TPBE), this is now solved

    • TPBE can now accept/pass through the ChargerAvailability OCPP message.

  9. IMPROVEMENT Data compression enabled for all local controllers

    • All data from the local controller will be compressed before sending it to the cloud

Cloud v2.1

  • FEATUREOCPP Logs (DE Version) BETA

    • OCPP Logs are now visible in the ChargePilot Web Portal

  • IMPROVEMENT New Charging Point Statuses (DE Version)

    • We split up the statuses and Unavailable + Offline are now shown as separate statuses, not as Error anymore.

    • Offline is still shown in the Error Notifications tile

    • Unavailable is not shown in the Error Notifications tile anymore, as it’s not an error

    • Finishing is not grouped under “preparing” anymore.

  • IMPROVEMENT Reduced loading time for ID management section

  • IMPROVEMENT Added site name to error notifications

    • We now show the site name in multi-site view for the error notifications tile in the Dashboard

  • IMPROVEMENT Added error icon to charging point details table

    • We now show error icons whenever we receive an error code via OCPP, even when the corresponding status is not error

Cloud v2.0

  • FEATURE New Menu Bar

    • A new menu bar was introduced to ChargePilot to improve usability and responsiveness across all devices.

  • IMPROVEMENT New Login & Authentication for ChargePilot

    • The Login & Authentication Service for ChargePilot was refactored and redesigned.

    • The Profile section is now shown as part of the new menu bar.

  • IMPROVEMENT Driver Role (DE Version) BETA

    • A new role for drivers was introduced to allow @work drivers to see charging processes at the charging stations on site on their phone.

    • This is currently tested with selected Beta Users.

  • IMPROVEMENT Charging Station ID now visible in the Dashboard

  • IMPROVEMENT Meter values in Amps are now visible in the ChargePilot Live-View in the Dashboard

  • IMPROVEMENT Integration of the Help Center in the new menu bar.

Local Controller 1.48.5

  • IMPROVEMENT Update rabbitmq. version to 3.10.7

  • IMPROVEMENT Capability values will be phase rotated in the cloud database and no longer needs to be rotated in the receiver service.

  • FIXED Messages in the durable queues (e.g. billing messages) are now persistent and hence not lost upon reboot of the rabbitmq service or the local controller.
